Wellcome Collection operates under the Wellcome Trust, a global charitable foundation committed to advancing science for a healthier future for all. The Trust aims to invest £16bn over the next decade, supporting groundbreaking discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, while addressing three global health challenges: mental health, infectious diseases, and the intersection of climate and health.

These challenges require the bold scientific initiatives we champion, but they cannot be resolved by science alone.

We are seeking two Library Experience & Engagement Facilitators to enhance our team on a permanent basis.

Role Overview

You will be part of the Library Experience & Engagement team within Curatorial and Public Practice, reporting to a Library Experience and Engagement Manager.

The Library Experience and Engagement team collaborates with various departments across Wellcome Collection to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all visitors.

We provide assistance to users at library service points and through a remote inquiries service, ensuring that all users receive precise and timely access to information and resources, while retrieving collection items from our closed stores for visitors and colleagues.

Additionally, the Library Experience and Engagement team strives to engage our visitors with our collections and spaces. We achieve this by sharing our expertise through a variety of activities, including collection-oriented visits and events, and by developing our partnership and participation initiatives with key audiences.

Key Responsibilities

As a Library Experience and Engagement Facilitator, you will help create an inclusive environment by merging visitor experience expertise with a growing practice in engagement activities, knowledge of our collections, and participation with our priority audiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivering high-quality and attentive support to users across library service points and via inquiry channels Collaborating with colleagues to ensure a consistent and positive user experience across Wellcome Collection Sharing expertise to help visitors maximize their experience during each visit Partnering with the Collections & Digital teams to execute essential processes such as journal check-in and cataloguing of new acquisitions Researching, developing, and implementing new engagement activities and services tailored to priority audiences, in collaboration with the Live Programmes & Participation and Planning & Production teams Contributing to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organization through cross-departmental collaboration.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and experience engaging with diverse audiences. You should have effective presentation skills and the ability to clearly engage with groups of varying sizes.
