Position Overview

Reporting to: Camp Manager

Contract Type: Seasonal employment during school holidays.

Working Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM on weekdays. Opportunities for full season or part season roles, with additional hours available for those with a paediatric first aid qualification (typically 8 AM - 6 PM).

Role Summary

The Activity Instructor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children attending the camp while delivering engaging and structured activities.

Utilizing various resources, you will be responsible for leading a diverse range of structured sports, arts and crafts, and games for children aged 6 to 14 years, with a strong focus on participation, care, and development.

In addition to leading activities, staff members contribute to the high standards of physical, emotional, and social care provided by Ultimate Activity Camps. As an Activity Instructor, you will take on a pastoral role, guiding a group of children with an emphasis on maintaining their welfare and delivering exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement activities for children aged 6-14, emphasizing enjoyment, participation, and development, both independently and collaboratively with other staff.
  • Assume a pastoral role as a group leader, welcoming new participants and communicating with the Camp Manager and/or parents as needed.
  • Engage with children outside of scheduled activities to foster a supportive environment.
  • Continuously prioritize the welfare of the children in your care.
  • Exhibit high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism, serving as a positive role model for the children.
  • Ensure compliance with all camp policies and procedures, including health and safety and safeguarding protocols.
  • Embody the Ultimate Activity Camp commitment to 'Inspiring Children Every Day' and conduct yourself in a manner that aligns with the company's values throughout your employment.
  • Perform additional duties as required (e.g., cleaning, equipment maintenance).

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and facilitating activities.
  • Able to adapt the delivery and structure of sessions based on age and ability.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated to fostering children's development through play and activities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with confidence in leading a group of children.
  • A flexible team player, capable of adapting to dynamic situations and challenges.
  • Seeking a challenging yet rewarding role during the holidays, with aspirations to advance in the childcare and coaching sector.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualifications in or pursuing a relevant field such as sports, arts, performing arts, education, or childcare.
  • Experience managing a group of children independently.
  • Possession of a Paediatric First Aid (12-hour or 6-hour) or First Aid at Work certification.
