Job Title: Controls Engineer - Coventry - Special Purpose Machinery

Samuel Frank Associates is recruiting for an OEM with a base in the Coventry area as they're looking for a Controls Engineer to join the team.

About the Role:

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing PLC software for special purpose machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing PLC code from scratch, ideally for Siemens, Beckhoff, or Rockwell PLCs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret customer and regulatory requirements to ensure software designs are aligned.
  • Develop and implement industrial automation systems in accordance with British and international standards.
  • Conduct assessments and generate technical documents to support compliance to the Machinery Directive.
  • Network common automation hardware including EtherNET/IP, ProfiNET, Profibus, Modbus.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop innovative solutions that give maximum value.
Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
  • Experience of producing good quality Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and FAT documentation.
  • Knowledge of machine safety, e.g. BS EN ISO 13849, and the GAMP framework.
Working Arrangements:

The role will be a mix of office and home-based with a flexible/core hours system in place for the hours worked in the office.

The client's premises are commutable from various locations in the West Midlands, including Coventry, Warwick, Solihull, Rugby, Nuneaton, Daventry, Birmingham, Tamworth, Redditch, and Stratford-upon-Avon.
