Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Emergency Medicine Consultant to enhance our vibrant team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. This role is integral to the advancement of both adult and pediatric emergency care services.

Your primary location will be within the A&E department, with the possibility of collaborating with our affiliated hospitals to broaden your clinical experience.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Emergency Department Consultant or a fellowship-trained Specialty Registrar ready to transition into a consultant role. Full GMC registration or proof of eligibility for registration is required, along with appropriate fellowship training in Emergency Medicine.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will participate in a 15-consultant on-call rota, demonstrating flexibility in job planning to meet service demands. Our consultant coverage operates from 8am to 11pm on weekdays and 9am to 10pm on weekends.

This position offers a diverse range of clinical experiences in a busy district general hospital, allowing you to cultivate your own areas of interest, including audit, research, and contributions to the evolving Emergency Care Agenda of the NHS.

Moreover, you will play a crucial role in the innovative redesign of emergency services, particularly in the development of pediatric emergency care, contributing to the strategic goals of the Essex Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP).

With a strong commitment to patient care and safety, you will exhibit a thorough understanding of clinical governance and a desire to enhance patient experiences continuously.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential qualifications include:

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRCEM or equivalent
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry

Experience in supervising medical trainees and a solid understanding of NHS structures and team dynamics are also essential.
