Job Opportunity: Teacher of Philosophy, Religion and Ethics

The GDST is seeking a dedicated and inspirational Teacher of Philosophy, Religion and Ethics to join our team on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach multi-faith PRE from Year 7 to Year 9, fostering a deep understanding of diverse perspectives and values.
  • Deliver Religious, Philosophical and Moral Issues at GCSE and A-Level, promoting critical thinking and analysis.
  • Provide clear guidance and assessment to facilitate pupil progress, ensuring students reach their full potential.
  • Support students with university applications, helping them navigate the next stage of their academic journey.
  • Actively promote the subject to prospective students, inspiring the next generation of thinkers and leaders.

We are looking for a committed educator with a passion for debate and reflection on the moral, spiritual, and philosophical aspects of life.

Requirements:
  • Experience as a subject teacher covering Key Stages 3 to 5, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience of teaching the subject at GCSE and A-Level, with a deep understanding of the curriculum and assessment requirements.

A good honours degree, as well as excellent professional and subject knowledge, is essential for this role.

The Philosophy, Religion and Ethics department at The GDST is a dynamic and inclusive team that encourages pupils to develop, express and defend their own understanding of the moral, spiritual and philosophical aspects of life.

  • Organise educational trips to places of cultural and historical significance, enriching the learning experience.
  • Arrange for pupils to participate in study days and conferences, providing opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
  • Encourage pupils to enter competitions and events, fostering a sense of achievement and motivation.
