Position Overview

Leeds City College is seeking a dedicated Mathematics Instructor to join our educational team. If you have a passion for teaching mathematics to adult learners in community settings, this role may be an excellent fit for you. Key qualifications include experience in Functional Skills and GCSE. Our Adult provision has received high accolades for its quality of education. With a diverse student population and a committed staff, we are dedicated to making a positive impact through education.

The teaching team is primarily based at the main center, with additional classes at various outreach locations.

Our teaching schedule includes sessions from Monday to Thursday, typically from 09:30 to 21:00, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 09:30 to 15:00. There may be occasional evening classes required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement lesson plans, educational resources, and assessment strategies.
  • Deliver essential content to students and assess their comprehension.
  • Encourage and motivate learners to achieve their academic goals and develop their skills.
  • Establish strong connections with students and provide guidance for their success.
  • Promote and practice restorative approaches in the learning environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE) or be willing to pursue one.
  • Hold the highest vocational qualification or a degree in the relevant subject area.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject and have recent teaching experience in Further Education or schools.
  • Exhibit the ability to set effective SMART targets for student progression.
  • Be familiar with contemporary teaching methodologies and demonstrate experience in employing varied practices for improved learning outcomes.
  • Inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential.
