Position Overview

Leeds City College is seeking a dedicated Mathematics Instructor to join our educational team. If you have a passion for teaching mathematics to adult learners in community settings, this role may be ideal for you. Essential qualifications include experience in Functional Skills and GCSE. Our Adult education provision has been recognized for excellence by Ofsted.

The teaching team primarily operates from a central location, with additional classes held at various outreach centers.

Teaching sessions are typically scheduled from Monday to Thursday, with potential evening sessions as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive lesson plans and assessment strategies.
  • Deliver key concepts to learners and assess their comprehension.
  • Encourage and motivate students to achieve their academic goals and enhance their skills.
  • Establish strong rapport with learners and provide support for their success.
  • Promote and apply restorative practices in the learning environment.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE) or be willing to pursue one.
  • Hold the highest vocational qualification or a degree in the relevant subject area.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject and have recent teaching experience in Further Education or schools.
  • Exhibit the ability to set effective SMART targets for learner advancement.
  • Be familiar with contemporary teaching methodologies and adept at employing diverse strategies for improved learning outcomes.
  • Inspire and motivate learners to excel.
