Job Summary:

Thorn Baker Construction is seeking a highly skilled Construction Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As an H&S Advisor, you will play a crucial role in promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations specific to the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend control measures, with a focus on construction-specific risks.
  • Perform site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices, tailored to the construction industry.
  • Develop and deliver H&S training programs tailored to construction activities to help educate employees on safe work practices.
  • Investigate construction-related accidents or near-miss incidents and collaborate with management to implement corrective actions.
  • Provide expert advice on construction-specific H&S policies, procedures, and relevant legislation to ensure compliance with regional regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the construction industry to promote a proactive approach to health and safety in the workplace.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in conducting construction-specific risk assessments and site inspections within a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with construction workers at all levels.
  • Relevant certification or qualifications in construction health and safety management, such as NEBOSH certification with a construction bias.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations for continuous improvement in H&S processes within the construction industry.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Performing on-site risk assessments and inspections with a focus on construction activities.
  • Collaborating with construction teams to develop and deliver H&S training programs tailored to construction sites.
  • Engaging with construction workers to promote a positive safety culture within the construction industry.
  • Investigating and reporting on construction-related accidents or near-misses.
  • Reviewing and updating H&S policies and procedures to align with legislation and best practices in the construction sector.
