A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere for students who have faced difficulties in traditional educational settings. The focus is on empowering students to navigate their challenges and reach their full potential through personalized support and a caring environment.

Key Responsibilities: In the role of a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in assisting students dealing with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Your primary duties will encompass:

  • Applying trauma-informed approaches to cultivate a secure and encouraging educational space.
  • Delivering individualized and group assistance to students, aiding them in managing their emotions and behaviours.
  • Establishing and nurturing trusting relationships with students to foster rapport and confidence.
  • Collaborating with educators, Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), and other personnel to devise and execute effective support strategies.
  • Employing positive behaviour management techniques to assist students in overcoming daily obstacles.
  • Motivating and guiding students towards achieving their academic and personal aspirations.
  • Tracking and documenting student progress, making adjustments to support plans as necessary.

Candidate Profile: The ideal applicant will possess:

  • Expertise and experience in trauma-informed practices and behavioural management.
  • A sincere passion for aiding children who have encountered challenges in mainstream education.
  • Outstanding empathy, resilience, and patience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • The capacity to build trustworthy relationships with students and effectively handle challenging situations.
  • A proactive and constructive approach to problem-solving and teamwork.
