About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Birtwistles Food Group. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities, maintaining equipment, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments to equipment and machinery.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure minimal downtime and optimal production levels.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment history.
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with production staff and management.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Valid forklift and/or scissor lift certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree preferred.
