About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Governance and Assurance to join our leadership team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of our Trust's vision to provide the highest possible standards of compassionate care, patient and colleague experience, and to listen to and involve patients, employees, and carers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for corporate and clinical governance, risk management, and assurance portfolio.
  • Develop and implement effective governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage the interface between management and governance arrangements of the Trust.
  • Champion achievement of our strategic vision, leading in line with our values.
  • Report directly to the Chief Executive as a non-voting director.
Person Specification
  • Master's degree (or equivalent postgraduate level ability and experience).
  • Appropriate professional and leadership qualification.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development, including leadership development.
  • Registered Nurse, Midwife, or Allied Health Professional with a current registration of relevant professional body.
  • Post-management/leadership qualification or willingness to undertake a postgraduate certificate in management/leadership in an infection control setting.
  • QSIR (or equivalent).
  • Coaching qualification (or equivalent).
Experience
  • Proven experience of working and contributing at Management Boards, Boards of Directors (or equivalent).
  • An understanding of Foundation Trust Code of Governance and NHS provider license requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of senior Leadership management within the NHS.
  • Experience of leading and evidencing delivery of statutory and regulatory standards in healthcare.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering Clinical Quality Strategy.
  • Evidence of adopting coproduction problem-solving approaches to complex issues and situations.
  • Evidence of setting and monitoring standards.
  • Evidence of teaching, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Evidence of involvement with clinical and non-clinical benchmarking standards.
  • Evidence of a strong track record of delivery, able to manage multiple projects and drive change.
  • Evidence of leading and motivating teams effectively as well as building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading quality and service improvement.
  • Working collaboratively across Integrated Care Partnerships/Accountable Care Systems.
  • Evidence of introducing technology to improve services.
