Job Title: Building Control Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a key member of our Building Control team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all building projects comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Pre-Application Advice: Provide expert advice to building professionals and non-professionals on building control matters, ensuring that they understand the requirements and regulations.
  2. Plan Appraisal: Conduct thorough plan appraisals of industrial, commercial, and residential applications to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  3. Negotiation and Communication: Negotiate with applicants and their agents to bring about amendments or improvements to their applications, resulting in approval being issued.
  4. Building Regulation Approvals: Issue building regulation approvals and rejections, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  5. Sites Surveys: Conduct site surveys to establish that construction is in compliance with the building regulations and allied legislation.
  6. Site Investigation/Surveys: Conduct site investigation/surveys relating to applications, providing technical support and general advice to applicants and their builders to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations.
  7. Record Keeping: Record all site inspections and plan vetting details in a manner that will limit liability upon the Council in accordance with the Building Control Performance Standards.
  8. Negotiation and Resolution: Negotiate with applicants and their agents to bring about amendments or alterations to the site work, resulting in the acceptable completion of a project.
  9. Contravention Resolution: Undertake the satisfactory resolution of contraventions of the Building Regulations or, where necessary, instigate legal action.
  10. Public Enquiries: Respond to enquiries from the public and building professionals, providing guidance to enable them to achieve compliance with their chosen construction methodology.
  11. Dangerous Structures: Respond to and take appropriate action when dangerous structures are reported, liaising with and advising the Emergency Services to protect their members and the public from danger.
  12. Statutory Authorities: Consult with statutory authorities and other government bodies.
  13. Complex Calculations: Check complex structural, thermal, and acoustic calculations relating to industrial, commercial, and domestic buildings.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Experienced Building Surveyor with a strong background in building control and regulation.
  • Authorisations and Completions: Carrying out plan checks and site inspections, authorisations, and completions.
  • Registration: Please ensure your CV identifies what class you are registered to (e.g., 2A, 2D, etc.) as this will be relevant to any shortlisting of candidates.
