Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

H&R Talent is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our small team, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting our server and network infrastructure distributed across three London data centres.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and support server and network infrastructure
  • Build, deploy, and optimise trading servers and services
  • Work with Development and Trading teams to build systems for new projects
  • Design and implement automated and scalable infrastructure
  • Deploy new data centre locations and trading systems
  • Perform data centre management
  • Research and test new server and network hardware
  • Support and troubleshoot system issues
Requirements:
  • At least three years of professional Linux or systems experience
  • Expertise with server management in a data centre environment
  • Solid Windows and Linux knowledge
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools and network security
  • Understanding of network and OS security
  • Functional knowledge of spanning tree, LLDP, VPN, link aggregation, packet capture, BGP, OSPF, VLAN
  • Exposure to virtualisation and containerisation
  • Knowledge of network file systems and database support
  • Data centre management expertise
  • Experience with high-speed host networking
  • Experience with general configuration and scripting abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to trading systems and exchange connectivity
  • Background troubleshooting and optimising performance in networked systems
  • Experience building and configuring bare metal server systems
  • Proficiency with Ansible
  • Familiarity with network operating systems and AD domain management
