We are excited to announce an opportunity to join our dedicated team. Our service is designed to provide housing support to individuals with autism, focusing on enhancing their quality of life through a specialized approach. Our small, skilled team works closely with two gentlemen, fostering their development in various areas such as social engagement, community participation, and daily living skills, all within a safe and inclusive environment.

At Scottish Autism, we recognize the vital role our staff play in supporting autistic individuals. Hence, our support staff are referred to as Autism Support Specialists.

As an Autism Support Specialist, while experience in social care is beneficial, it is not a prerequisite. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, grow into the role, and align with our core values: Collaboration, Compassion, Change Makers, and Contribution. Our team benefits from ongoing coaching, training, and collaborative efforts to ensure we deliver high-quality support. Candidates should possess strong observational skills and demonstrate resilience.

A valid UK driving license is essential for this position.

Responsibilities of Autism Support Specialists include:

Developing and implementing tailored support plans for individuals, Fostering positive relationships with the individuals we support, Collaborating with individuals, their families, support networks, and health professionals, Ensuring that the aspirations and goals of the individuals are central to their support.

Daily, Autism Support Specialists empower individuals to:

Make informed choices using their preferred communication methods, Engage in their chosen activities, Maintain their tenancies and make decisions that are important to them, Provide necessary support including personal care, promoting independence, community inclusion, and assistance with household tasks.

Expect to be actively involved in supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community.

This role requires shift work, including evenings and weekends.

All positions are subject to a PVG Disclosure check. New employees must apply for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council within three months of starting and be registered within six months. Scottish Autism covers all costs associated with PVG membership and SSSC registration for employees.
