Oncology Nurse Specialist | Spire Healthcare Ltd | Full time

Spire Healthcare Ltd is in search of a skilled Oncology Nurse Specialist to become a vital part of our dedicated oncology team.

Role Overview:

As the Oncology Nurse Specialist, you will act as the clinical authority and a professional resource for the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee direct patient care, managing a clinical caseload and safely administering systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT).
  • Collaborate closely with other site-specific Nurse Specialists and function as an integral team member.
  • Engage with various professionals and organizations both within and outside the healthcare setting to ensure comprehensive patient care, particularly regarding ongoing treatment and discharge planning.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues within the oncology unit.
  • Conduct Holistic Needs Assessments at appropriate stages in the patient journey and develop care plans, including referrals to psychological care providers when necessary.
  • Deliver evidence-based specialist advice to ensure effective clinical care for cancer patients and their families in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Foster a culture of respectful relationships and encourage patient involvement in care decisions.
  • Assess and evaluate the needs of patients and their families, providing treatment, support, and referrals as needed.
  • Exhibit advanced knowledge in chemotherapy administration and management of associated toxicities, including intravenous access and central venous access management.
  • Participate in hospital committees and forums.
  • Continuously enhance and develop training programs aligned with personal development objectives.

Candidate Profile:

  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in senior roles within cancer services and SACT administration.
  • Completion of an accredited SACT administration course.
  • Proficiency in the UKONS 24 Hour triage Tool.
  • Post-registration qualification in cancer care.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and IT skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Working Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (flexible to accommodate clinics)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full time
