Oncology Nurse Specialist | Spire Healthcare | Private Hospital | Full time
Spire Healthcare is in search of a skilled Oncology Nurse Specialist to enhance our dedicated oncology team.
As an Oncology Nurse Specialist, you will act as the clinical authority and professional guide for the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee direct patient care, managing a clinical caseload and safely administering systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) Collaborate closely with other site-specific Nurse Specialists, functioning as part of a cohesive team Engage with other professionals and organizations, both within and outside the hospital, to ensure comprehensive patient care, particularly regarding ongoing needs and discharge planning Provide professional guidance to colleagues in the oncology unit Conduct Holistic Needs Assessments at appropriate stages in the patient journey and create care plans, referring to psychological care providers when necessary Deliver evidence-based specialist advice to ensure effective clinical care for cancer patients and their families in partnership with the multidisciplinary team Foster a culture of respectful relationships and patient engagement in care decisions Assess and evaluate the needs of patients and their families, providing treatment, support, and referrals as needed Exhibit advanced knowledge in chemotherapy administration and management of associated toxicities, including intravenous access and central venous access Participate in hospital committees and forums Continuously enhance and develop training programs aligned with personal development objectivesIdeal Candidate:
Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration, free of restrictions Extensive experience in senior roles within cancer services and SACT administration Completion of an accredited SACT administration course Proficiency in the UKONS 24 Hour triage Tool Post-registration qualification in cancer care Strong communication, organizational, and IT skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities Capacity to work independently with minimal supervisionWorking Hours: Full Time 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday (flexible to accommodate clinics)
