Key Responsibilities
We are seeking applications for the Consultant position within the Cardiology Department. This role is pivotal in providing clinical guidance to a high-volume Echo Department, which conducts over 30,000 echocardiographic assessments annually. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the expanding structural interventional program, which is among the largest in the region, performing numerous transcatheter aortic valve implantations and edge-to-edge repairs each year.
About the Department
The Echocardiography Department operates within a state-of-the-art facility, featuring multiple dedicated echo rooms and integrated services for both outpatient and inpatient care. The department is staffed by a team of accredited cardiac physiologists and cardiology consultants who collaborate to deliver comprehensive echocardiographic services.
The successful applicant will assume a leadership role, working closely with the Lead Echocardiographer and participating in multidisciplinary meetings to enhance the quality of care provided.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Full GMC registration and license to practice
- Medical degree
- Completion of CCT in Cardiology
- BSE Accreditation in Transthoracic Echocardiography (or equivalent)
- Comprehensive training in Clinical Cardiology and Echocardiography
- Expertise in transoesophageal echocardiography for guiding cardiac interventions
Desirable:
- Higher medical degree
- BSE Accreditation in additional echocardiographic techniques
Skills and Competencies
Essential:
- Proven ability to lead within a clinical setting
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Experience in teaching and training within a healthcare environment
- Commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
Other Requirements

- Valid driving license for transportation purposes
