Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Consultant to join our team at King's College Hospital. As a key member of our dental department, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in Restorative Dentistry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation of restorative dentistry procedures.
  • Lead and manage a team of dental professionals, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure excellence in patient care and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of educational programs for dental students and staff, promoting excellence in restorative dentistry.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research projects to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery or equivalent Masters qualification in a relevant clinical discipline.
  • Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC).
  • On the GDC Specialist List in Restorative Dentistry or within six months of eligibility for inclusion.
  • Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent.
  • Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Restorative Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of an SAC approved five-year minimum training programme in Restorative Dentistry, or within six months of completion, or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of Restorative services in a busy Teaching Hospital.
  • Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
  • Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
  • Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Management course and/or qualification.
  • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
  • Experience of clinical research.
  • Publication of relevant review articles or case reports.
  • Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of restorative dentistry.
  • Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation at an appropriate level.
