About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Finance Team as an Accounts Payable Assistant. This is a 9-month fixed-term contract opportunity that will provide the successful candidate with the chance to develop their skills and experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage purchase orders, invoices, and credit notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies or queries.
  • Perform a system-led match of purchase orders to goods received notes and invoices, and manually match as required.
  • Respond to purchase ledger queries from suppliers and authorsizers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Liaise with divisions to resolve payment queries and ensure smooth processing.
  • Assist with document preparation, scanning, and filing activities.
  • Support the external auditor with any queries or requests.
  • Contribute to various other regular monthly accounting tasks as required.
  • Provide first-level support for system queries from the business related to the purchase-to-pay process.

Requirements:

  • Effective communication, team working, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Logic, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to show initiative and work towards department and business objectives.

Desirable Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in supplier communications and knowledge of finance transactional processing on a finance system.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with the drive to improve processes and see tasks through to completion.
  • Self-motivated and a quick learner.
  • Team player who is happy to assist others with ad-hoc tasks.
  • Flexible and adaptable in ability to learn new systems and skills quickly.
  • Strong record of achievement and task completion.
