Lead Electrical Engineering Supervisor

The Recruitment Co is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineering Supervisor to join a well-established and expanding organization.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (based on experience)

Working Hours: Week 1: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (37.5 hours per week); Week 2: Tuesday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Understanding of Maintenance Operations

  • Engage in on-the-job training
  • Participate in all Health & Safety and business-related training sessions

Preventative Maintenance Management

  • Maintain and update the maintenance schedule
  • Conduct regular inspections and walk rounds
  • Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance for all machinery

Repair and Breakdown Management

  • Mechanical Repairs
  • Electrical Repairs (where legally permitted)
  • Plumbing Tasks
  • Participate in the 'call out' team

Installation of New Systems

  • Electrical installations and cable routing (non-electrician tasks)
  • Mechanical installations
  • Pipework installation throughout the facility
  • Documentation checks
  • Logistical support

Cost Center Management and Procurement

  • Generate and verify purchase orders for the Maintenance Manager
  • Request quotes for necessary work
  • Manage timesheets and coordinate with external contractors
  • Procure consumables

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in preparing and implementing Risk Assessments (RA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Draft Method Statements for tasks and projects
  • Train other maintenance personnel and operational staff
  • Oversee contractors and their documentation

Utility Oversight

  • Engage in the energy management system
  • Monitor sampling equipment
  • Ensure cold storage areas maintain appropriate temperatures
  • Actively track and challenge water usage and waste


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Current mechanical engineering qualification
  • 18th Edition Electrical Qualification - mandatory
  • Strong communication skills across all business levels
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Team player with the ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), Outlook Express (Task and Diary management)
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems
  • Familiarity with the 'Permit to Work' system
  • Valid driving license (clean/current)
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Experience in welding and fabrication
  • Basic carpentry and plumbing skills
  • Understanding of refrigeration systems
  • Knowledge of PLC units
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations and their application in the workplace
  • Training towards or achieved CIEH Level 3 Awards in Food Safety
  • Ability to issue permits under the permit to work system
