Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy and Public Affairs Officer to drive forward our organisation's policy and public affairs work in the devolved nations of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Main Responsibilities
  • Influencing Policy and Legislation

Develop and implement strategies to influence policy and legislation in the devolved nations, ensuring that everyone has access to the skills needed to save a life.

Stakeholder Engagement and Management

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including decision-makers, think tanks, and All Party Parliamentary Groups, to advance our policy objectives.

Policy Development and Analysis

Conduct in-depth research and analysis to inform policy development, and write high-quality policy briefs, reports, and other materials.

Parliamentary and Public Affairs

Develop and implement strategies to engage with parliamentarians, including writing parliamentary questions, briefings, and other materials.

Customer Relationship Management

Manage our customer relationship management systems to track and report on external engagement processes.

Event Planning and Coordination

Plan and coordinate policy and stakeholder events, including conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Policy Communications and Media

Develop and implement strategies to communicate our policy positions to the media and other stakeholders.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our policy and public affairs work, and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements
  • Strong Policy and Public Affairs Skills

Proven experience in policy and public affairs, with a strong understanding of the devolved nations' policy landscape.

Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Ability to communicate complex policy issues effectively to a range of stakeholders, and build strong relationships with decision-makers and other stakeholders.

Strong Analytical and Research Skills

Ability to conduct in-depth research and analysis to inform policy development, and write high-quality policy briefs, reports, and other materials.

Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines, and managing competing demands.
