About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Operations Engineer to join our team at Unilever. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities, maintaining equipment, and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
    • Participate in audits and inspections to ensure good housekeeping and machine safety.
  • Quality and Technical
    • Assist in identifying critical control points on equipment and ensure they are inspected according to quality management procedures.
    • Develop and implement calibration programs to ensure accuracy and precision.
    • Apply technical skills and expertise to provide effective engineering support to the team.
  • Technical and Maintenance
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs and replacements of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
    • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Leadership and Communication
    • Lead small improvement projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve goals.
    • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
    • Document repairs, changes, and process improvements in accordance with company procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to ensure the team remains competitive.

Requirements

  • Essential
    • Relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, or control engineering.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • NVQ 3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
    • Good level of computer literacy, including MS Office suite and CMMS systems.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret information and data from different sources.
  • Desirable
    • Training in lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
    • Knowledge of 19th Edition wiring regulations.
    • Programme Logic Control qualifications (Siemens S5/Siemens S7/Simotion).
