About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Director to lead our Network Strategy team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving research and innovation in Network Connectivity Services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Research Leadership: Lead and manage research projects, activities, and matrixed resources to deliver business value.
  2. Strategic Engagement: Proactively engage with business units to downstream strategic technologies for commercial realization.
  3. Intellectual Property: Responsible for intellectual property creation, managing patent filing, and supporting IPR exploitation.
  4. Research Definition: Define and perform research in a specific domain or area, typically unknown, complex, high-impact, and high-value across multiple domains.
  5. Team Supervision: Supervise professionals, graduates, and post-graduate student placements and secondments.
  6. Team Management: Depending on business needs, manage Research Specialists, Professionals, or other Team members.
Requirements
  1. Technical Expertise: Strong academic record in technology specialism with post-graduate qualification(s) (PhD or equivalent research experience).
  2. Storytelling with Data: Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques, and communicating this to business audiences.
  3. Technical Domain Expertise: Significant knowledge and skill relevant to Network Connectivity Services, including:
  • Embedded systems
  • Home Gateway
  • Cloud and virtualisation technologies
  • Content delivery architectures
  • Higher and lower layer network protocols
  • Software development
Commercial Implications: Appreciation of the practical and commercial implications of Network Connectivity Services deployment.IPR Management: Able to file new IPR naturally as it emerges in the candidate's research.Project Leadership: Able to lead large-scale research projects autonomously, including internal and external collaborations.Business Impact: Significant delivery of research with business impact.Stakeholder Management: Evidence of managing project stakeholders across the business at various grade and seniority levels.Commercial Applicability: Understanding the business case principles around relevant innovations and the real value to the business through value propositions.What We Offer
