Job Title: Transport Planner

Streamline Search is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our client's General Haulage division. As a key member of the logistics team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the daily movement of vehicles, ensuring maximum efficiency and on-time delivery for general haulage services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule transport routes for a mixed fleet of vehicles, taking into account vehicle capacity, delivery times, and customer requirements.
  • Manage load allocations, liaise with drivers, and communicate schedules and job details.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers, providing updates on deliveries and handling transport-related inquiries.
  • Ensure all transport operations adhere to legal and safety regulations, including driver hours, working time directive, and tachograph regulations.
  • Monitor fleet utilisation, reducing empty running and optimising vehicle capacity to drive operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Handle day-to-day issues, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or delivery changes, ensuring minimal disruption to schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records for all transport activities, including delivery notes, route logs, and compliance documents.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery rates and vehicle efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in transport planning, ideally within the general haulage sector.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  • Familiarity with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and route planning software.
  • Understanding of transport compliance and health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, handling multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with customers, drivers, and internal teams.
What We Offer:
  • Competitive salary: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
