Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing services, healthcare, and treatment to offenders in an adult correctional institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess offenders' health problems and needs, prepare and administer prescribed medications, initiate emergency interventions, first aid measures, and assist physician.
  • Develop and implement medical/nursing guidelines and maintain medical records.
  • Provide training as necessary to staff and education to offenders about healthy lifestyles.
Requirements
  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing program.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia RN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment.
  • Experience working with mental health patients.
  • Experience in acute care and/or community health settings.
