Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Orthoptist to lead our Neuro-Ophthalmology service in Buckinghamshire. As a highly skilled practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing patients with complex medical problems, developing treatment plans, and providing clinical supervision to junior staff.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will have a strong background in orthoptics, with experience in assessing and treating patients with IIH, stroke, and spinal injury. You will be responsible for:

  • Assessing and diagnosing patients with complex medical conditions
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans to achieve maximum functional ability
  • Providing clinical supervision to junior staff
  • Leading and developing the Neuro-Ophthalmology service in Buckinghamshire

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in Orthoptics or a related field
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • BIOS accredited postgraduate training in VPD
  • Membership of Neuro-Ophthalmology CAG and participation

Experience in clinical teaching, clinical audit, and managing a complex workload is also essential. We welcome applications from candidates with research experience and negotiating and persuasive skills.
