Job Title: Career Development Senior Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Career Development Senior Manager to join our Development Team within the Development and Alumni Relations Office at Durham University.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding principal/major donations of £100K - £1M+ from individual donors, trusts and foundations, legacy and planned giving prospects, corporate donors/sponsors, and other philanthropic organisations.

This is a hybrid role based in Durham, with a requirement to be on site at least two days per week and a considerable amount of travel within the UK and potentially further afield.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategies to identify and secure major gifts from a range of donors, including individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate donors.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with senior University leaders, prominent public figures, major benefactors, and advocates to facilitate the development of principal/major donations.
  3. Work closely with the Development Team to deliver Durham's bicentenary campaign, known as Durham 200, which seeks to create a step-change in philanthropic income and increase significantly the impact of giving to Durham.
  4. Provide specialist advice on the analysis and interpretation of complex data to inform fundraising strategies and activities.
  5. Responsible for operational activity across Development, including ensuring that policy and regulatory standards are met by fundraising activities.
  6. Help develop standards for your service defined in service level agreements.
  7. Ensure data is appropriately stored and managed.
  8. Use creative ways to promote philanthropic giving.
