We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Midwifery Expert to join our team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our Maternity Directorate, you will play a vital role in providing expert clinical care and leadership within our maternity services.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert midwifery practice and act as a role model for midwives, exercising a high degree of personal and professional autonomy.
- Maintain a time commitment of 50% to practice, with a focus on role modelling and expert midwifery practice in the intrapartum setting.
- Work collaboratively with obstetricians to plan, deliver, and evaluate care for women.
- Support the implementation of a system of referral, consultation, and care planning for women with complex needs.
- Use knowledge and skills of the highest order to inform practice decisions and inspire midwives to realise their full potential as autonomous practitioners.
- Act as the expert midwifery lead for intrapartum birth and provide visionary, inspirational leadership and expertise to midwives.
- Inspire colleagues to improve standards and quality of care and develop professional practice in the area of intrapartum midwifery care.
- Work collaboratively with the Associate Director of Midwifery, Heads of Midwifery, and consultant midwifery colleague to develop and implement a maternity strategy that promotes midwifery care.
- Play a key role in professional development through the identification of learning needs across the organisation.
- Work closely with the midwifery and nursing education teams to develop, plan, and implement education and development programmes.
- Provide key lectures to students and graduates and be instrumental in the development and delivery of inter-professional learning.
- Work in partnership with the Associate Director of Midwifery, Head of Midwifery, and Consultant Midwife colleague to develop, take forward, and evaluate direction, policies, and strategies.
- Lead the continuing development of shared midwifery, woman-focused, models of care that promote midwifery care and improve quality.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of midwifery care and make necessary modifications.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Midwifery Expert who possesses the following qualifications and skills:
- Registered Midwife
- Educated to masters level
- Recognised leadership qualification or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge of midwifery and the complex birth agenda
- In-depth knowledge of health policy
- Knowledge of quality standard setting and audit
- Research skills
- Demonstrable leadership skills
- Organisation and management skills
- Ability to influence, motivate, and inspire others
