Overview

In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the seamless operation of our national rail network. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the routine maintenance of signalling systems, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Your hands-on involvement will span various activities, from inspections to maintenance and system renewals. You will ensure that all tasks are executed with precision and in accordance with safety protocols. Establishing safety measures and ensuring compliance among both Network Rail personnel and contractors will be paramount.

As a leader, you will monitor the quality of work and the skills of your team, ensuring that all assets meet regulatory standards and that all tools and equipment are appropriate for use. You will also be responsible for generating essential reports.

Technical Expertise

Working with signalling and telecommunications equipment, you will manage systems that regulate train movements, level crossings, and track switches. Your eagerness to learn will enable you to acquire a diverse set of technical skills across various manual, electrical, and digital systems.

Team Leadership

Your leadership is crucial to the success of your team. You will be expected to inspire, organize, and guide a high-performing group of professionals.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing and executing safe and efficient work delivery.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal practices specific to the discipline.
  • Understanding of relevant standards and operational procedures.
  • A clear and motivating leadership style with a strong vision.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Possession or pursuit of an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability and willingness to operate vehicles as required.
