About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heritage Collections Coordinator to join our team at The Scout Association. As a key member of our Heritage Services team, you will play a vital role in preserving and promoting the rich history of Scouting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquisitions and Disposal: Lead on work relating to acquisitions, including liaising with donors, ensuring appropriate paperwork is completed and filed, and delivering a high level of user service.
  • Collection Management: Make recommendations for disposal based on the Collections Policy, present these at Acquisitions and Disposal Meetings, and liaise with managers for disposal approval.
  • Preservation and Conservation: Carry out acquisitions and disposals in accordance with the Museum Association Code of Ethics, and newly pack or repack poorly stored items to improve their long-term storage and preservation.
Requirements
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Deliver work to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Work to prescribed processes, working methods, and standards, and demonstrate a high level of organization and accuracy.
  • Heritage Experience: Working or volunteering in a role that requires a high level of organization and accuracy, and working or volunteering with a heritage collection in a museum or similar setting.
  • Qualifications and Training: Qualification or demonstration of training in working with heritage collections, and a basic understanding of the functions of an organizational heritage service and its reasons for existence.
  • Passion for Heritage: Passion for history and the work of the heritage sector.
