Salary: £29,486 per annum (Band D, level 3, inclusive of outer London weighting)

Role Overview:
The Heritage Services team is dedicated to fostering environments where users can explore and be inspired by the rich history of Scouting and its members. As we deepen our understanding of the Collection, we continuously uncover remarkable narratives spanning over 117 years. Our small, passionate team thrives on collaboration and shared learning.
The Scout Heritage Collection holds a treasure trove of stories, from tales of innovation and adventure to acts of bravery and brilliance. In this role, you will contribute to the ongoing narrative, collaborating with staff and volunteers to shape the heritage of tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee acquisition processes, including communication with donors (both internal and external), ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and organized. Deliver exceptional user service.
- Make informed recommendations for disposals in line with the Collections Policy, presenting these at relevant meetings and coordinating with managers for approval. Conduct research and engage with potential recipients when necessary.
- Execute acquisitions and disposals in accordance with the Museum Association Code of Ethics.
- Repack or properly store items to enhance their long-term preservation and care.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven ability to deliver work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Experience adhering to established processes, methods, and standards.
- Background in roles requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working or volunteering with heritage collections in a museum or similar environment.
- Formal qualifications or demonstrated training in heritage collection management.
- Understanding of the fundamental functions of an organizational heritage service.
- A genuine passion for history and the heritage sector.
