About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Haematology Nurse Specialist to join our team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Haematology Oncology team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and support to individuals with malignant haematological conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist, high-quality nursing care and support to patients and their carers with a diagnosis of Haematological cancer.
  • Work autonomously, carrying a caseload of patients diagnosed with Haematological malignancy, and support the team in the delivery of the service for which you are responsible.
  • Forge and develop strong working relationships with cancer management and palliative care teams, including provision of specialist advice, information, teaching, and training.
  • Develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the nursing service, ensuring maintenance of clinical excellence underpinned by evidence-based practice.
  • Work with the Multidisciplinary team and Cancer Management Team to ensure that the service complies with national standards for safety and quality, and actively contribute to work plans resulting from Quality Surveillance assessments.
Requirements
  • First-level nursing registration and post-registration qualification appropriate to speciality.
  • First-level degree in a related subject and evidence of continued professional development.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or working towards, and chemotherapy qualification.
  • Relevant post-registration experience at Band 6 or above in speciality or cancer-related area, with previous experience in a post involving clinical and managerial responsibilities.
  • Ability to develop new ways of working, deal with complex clinical scenarios, and experience of multi-professional working.
