Senior Manager of Indirect Tax

Brewer Morris is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Indirect Tax team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on indirect tax matters, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring timely communication regarding transactions with tax compliance implications.
Key Responsibilities:- Indirect Tax Advisory: Offer practical and commercially focused indirect tax advice on regional projects and transactions, with an emphasis on VAT and other indirect taxes (e.g., customs duties).
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely communication regarding transactions with tax compliance implications.
- Team Support: Support, guide, and develop the indirect tax reporting team in the Tax Centre of Excellence.
- Compliance Oversight: Review and continually ensure the appropriateness of the UK Partial Exemption Methodology.
- HMRC Management: Take a leading role in managing the relationship with HMRC.
- Documentation and Analysis: Prepare documentation and analysis on critical indirect tax positions and decisions, including the analysis of potential tax reserves for agreement with the Group's auditors.
- Policy Management: Lead in documenting and managing the Group's indirect tax policy.
- Legislative Monitoring: Monitor and manage indirect tax legislation and its applicability to the Group, ensuring timely updates and appropriate actions to maintain compliance.
- Training and Development: Maintain excellent technical knowledge of indirect tax issues within the financial services/fintech sector and develop a strong commercial understanding of the industry to deliver VAT training to the wider business, commercial, and finance colleagues.
- Audit Management: Partner with the Tax CoE to manage VAT/GST tax audits and inquiries raised by tax authorities.
- Qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CTA, or equivalent qualifications.
- Technical Knowledge: Excellent UK VAT technical knowledge.
- Experience: Previous experience managing HMRC and PESM negotiation relationships.
- Strategic Involvement: Previous involvement with strategic matters relating to VAT.
- Business Partnering: Excellent business partnering capability.
