Care Support Specialist - Waking Night/Responder
We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to assist adults with additional support requirements in their own residences or with family members. As a team, you will collaborate to empower those we assist in establishing a solid foundation for a prosperous future.
Many of our care support specialists pursue formal qualifications in social care as they enhance their professional capabilities, or engage in support work while continuing their education.

Reporting to: Practice and Wellbeing Leader
Salary Range:
Unqualified: £24,92 - £24,98 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)
Qualified: £24,98 - £25,37 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)
Casual Rate: £12 per hour, with a sleepover rate (if applicable) of £96 per night.
Hours: Night shifts from 9:30 PM to 8:30 AM, with full-time, part-time, and casual hours available to be confirmed with the post holder.
Main Purpose:
The primary aim of this role is to deliver a caring, efficient, and effective 24/7 support service to individuals utilizing The Action Group's services. This includes aiding individuals in developing their skills by supervising and engaging in various support activities that enrich their opportunities and promote choice.
About the Role
Specific Responsibilities
- Implement the TAG Key Worker system, organizing support plans and case reviews for individuals with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective handovers between staff, and maintaining records and case files.
- Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals at all times, supporting them in maintaining adequate levels of self-care and conducting risk assessments.
- Build meaningful and trusting relationships with individuals, helping them gain insight into their behaviors and reactions.
- Encourage independence in daily living activities, providing support only when necessary (e.g., household chores, meal preparation, administrative tasks).
- Foster individuals' hobbies, interests, and community participation, including organizing outings and accompanying them to activities as needed.
- Provide direct assistance with personal care as required.
- Collaborate with individuals to enhance their communication skills and promote self-advocacy.
- Advocate for individuals when necessary, liaising with external organizations regarding benefits, education, tenancy, and employment.
- Engage with relatives and caregivers, arranging support plans and addressing concerns, ensuring that family members play a significant role in the individual's life.
- Research local services and amenities available to individuals.
- Participate flexibly in various shift patterns based on the needs of the individuals.
- Occasionally cover short-term absences of support specialists in other teams.
