Care Support Specialist - Overnight Shift - Individualized Assistance

Location: Musselburgh

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to assist adults with unique support requirements in their residences or with family members. You will collaborate with your team to empower those we assist in establishing a solid foundation for a prosperous future.

Many of our care support specialists pursue formal qualifications in social care as they enhance their professional expertise or engage in support work while furthering their education.

Position: Care Support Specialist
Service: Housing & Community Support Services (HACSS)

Reporting to: Practice and Wellbeing Leader

Salary Range:

Unqualified: £24,92 - £24,98 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)

Qualified: £24,98 - £25,37 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)

Casual Rate: £12 per hour; Sleepover rate (if applicable) £96 per night.

Work Hours: Night shift - 9pm to 9am, 7 nights a week. Full-time, part-time, and casual hours available, to be confirmed with the post holder.

Requirements: Training will be provided for specific needs.

Role Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to deliver a compassionate, efficient, and effective 24/7 support service to individuals utilizing The Action Group's services. This includes aiding individuals in skill development by supervising and engaging in various support activities that enhance their opportunities and promote choice. The key responsibilities for this position are outlined below:

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the TAG Key Worker system, organizing support plans and case reviews as necessary for individuals, ensuring effective communication between staff, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Foster the physical and emotional wellbeing of the individuals we support, assisting them in maintaining acceptable self-care standards and conducting risk assessments.
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with the individuals we support, helping them gain insight into their behaviors and reactions.
  • Encourage independence in daily living activities and provide support only when necessary.
  • Promote individuals' hobbies, interests, and community participation, including organizing outings and accompanying them to activities.
  • Provide personal care assistance as required.
  • Support individuals in enhancing their communication skills and advocate for self-advocacy.
  • Liaise with external organizations on behalf of the individuals we support regarding benefits, education, and employment.
  • Collaborate with relatives and caregivers to ensure their involvement in the individual's life.
  • Research local services and amenities available to the individuals we support.
  • Participate flexibly in various shift patterns to meet the needs of the individuals.
  • Occasionally cover for short-term absences of other support specialists.

General Responsibilities
