Job Title: Mortgage Underwriter

We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at Legal & General. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and process applications for medium to high-risk cases, ensuring compliance with Group Service Levels and underwriting guidelines.
  • Interact with customers to gather information required to process and assess applications.
  • Apply knowledge to mentor and coach others, providing advice and guidance to improve understanding and job-related skills.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service and monitor the standard exhibited by Junior Underwriters and Underwriting Administrators.
  • Analyze underwriting data to identify trends and produce reports or findings, including statistical information where appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Mortgage Underwriter.
  • Previous experience underwriting equity release, residential, or buy-to-let cases.
  • Minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), 'Treating Customers Fairly' (TCF), and Data Protection requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft.
