Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our team at Legal & General. As an Equity Release Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in providing expert underwriting services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: You will be responsible for assessing and processing applications for equity release mortgages, ensuring that all activity is compliant with strict audit and underwriting guidelines and criteria.
  • Customer Interaction: You will interact with customers to gather information required to process and assess applications, providing a high standard of customer service.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: You will mentor and coach junior underwriters and underwriting administrators, providing advice, guidance, and technical input to improve their understanding and job-related skills.
  • Analysis and Reporting: You will analyze underwriting data to identify trends and produce necessary reports or findings, including statistical information where appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Experience: You must have experience as a Mortgage Underwriter, with a strong background in underwriting equity release, residential, or buy-to-let cases.
  • Qualifications: You must have a minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Skills: You must have strong verbal and written skills, attention to detail, and be computer literate in Microsoft.
