Playout Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled Playout Controller to join our 24/7 team, responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of Sky's channels and third-party content. As a key member of our Playout department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the highest quality of live sports and entertainment programs for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule Preparation: Perform manual and automated tasks to identify potential errors and ensure readiness for broadcast.
- Live Schedule Management: Edit live automation schedules to alter content or timings as required.
- Live Schedule Monitoring: Monitor channel outputs to confirm and maintain fault-free playout.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Ofcom regulations and Sky policies.
- Fault Identification: Immediate identification of channel loss or degradation, encryption loss, or PIN protection issues.
- Fault Recovery: Use system resilience or schedule editing to recover from channel loss or degradation.
- Fault Management: Communicate with customers through on-screen messages, voice-overs, or other messaging when faults are not immediately recoverable.
- Escalation: Efficient communication with 2nd line support teams and operational management.
- Editorial Knowledge: Understanding of Sky's programming and promotional strategies.
- Logging & Reporting: Accurately record faults, changes, or deviations from scheduled content.
- Information Management: Accurately pass on information to colleagues or operational management to ensure channel continuity.
- Communication: Provide concise and accurate verbal and written communication, professional and courteous at all times.
- Training: Pass on knowledge and experience of workflows, systems, and procedures as required.
- Support: Provide support to the Playout Specialist and Operational Lead functions as required.
- Complex Live Event Management: Line-up, preparation, and control of complex live events, including negotiation with production teams.
- Gallery Free Production: Make editorial decisions to maintain channel continuity when communication with event sources is incoming only.
- Qualifications: Degree qualification or relevant vocational qualifications.
- Specialist Knowledge: Skilled in Playout systems and workflows, managing live events, and Playout systems used by Sky.
- Industry Experience: Experience in digital playout environments and complex live broadcast experience.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent communication and influencing skills, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
