Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Playout Controller to join our team at Sky. As a Playout Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of Sky's channels and third-party content to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule Preparation: Perform manual and automated tasks to identify potential errors and ensure readiness for broadcast.
  • Live Schedule Management: Edit live automation schedules to alter content or timings as required.
  • Live Schedule Monitoring: Monitor channel outputs to confirm and maintain fault-free playout.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Ofcom regulations and Sky policies.
  • Fault Identification: Immediate identification of channel output issues.
  • Fault Recovery: Use system resilience or schedule editing to recover from channel loss or degradation.
  • Fault Management: Communicate with customers through on-screen messages, voice-overs, or other messaging.
  • Escalation: Efficient communication with 2nd line support teams and operational management.
  • Editorial Knowledge: Understanding of Sky's programming and promotional strategies.
  • Logging & Reporting: Accurate recording of faults, changes, or deviations from scheduled content.
  • Information Management: Accurate passing of information to colleagues or operational management.
  • Communication: Professional and courteous verbal and written communication.
  • Training: Passing on knowledge and experience to colleagues.
  • Support: Providing support to Playout Specialists and Operational Leads as required.
  • Complex Live Event Management: Line-up, preparation, and control of complex live events.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree qualification or relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Skilled in Playout systems and workflows, managing live events, and Playout systems used by Sky.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in digital playout environments and complex live broadcast experience.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent communication, influencing, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
