Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Nurse Leader to join our team at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and delivering high-quality theatre care in the peri-operative setting.
Main Responsibilities- Team Leadership
- Act as a scrub team leader, overseeing the smooth running of lists and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Develop, train, and monitor the clinical skills of a designated group of staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Pre/Peri and Postoperative Care
- Establish and maintain high standards of care in the peri-operative setting, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
- Contribute to the development of cost-effective services, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and working with clinical coordinators to optimize resources.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and families, providing clear and concise information about care and treatment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Professional Development
- Participate in continuous professional development, staying up-to-date with best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures, ensuring they are aligned with trust values and standards.
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.
- Teaching and Supervision qualification.
- Extensive experience in theatre scrub and team lead in orthopaedic theatre.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Teaching and assessment experience.
Desirable Criteria
- L6 or above academic level.
- Management training.
- Knowledge of current issues in operating theatre.
- Knowledge of people management.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to organize day-to-day theatre activities.
- Ability to lead and delegate appropriately in theatre.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
