Position OverviewCare Support Specialist - Night Shift/Responder

We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to assist adults with additional support requirements who reside independently or with family. As a team, you will collaborate to empower those we assist in establishing a solid foundation for a promising future.

Many of our care support specialists pursue formal qualifications in social care as they enhance their professional capabilities, or engage in support work while continuing their education.

Role Details:

Position: Care Support Specialist
Service: Housing & Community Support Services

Base: Assigned by line manager, primarily working in an individual's residence but may involve supporting others in adjacent properties.

Management: Supervised by the Practice and Wellbeing Leader

Compensation:

Unqualified: £24,402.92 - £24,890.98 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)
Qualified: £24,890.98 - £25,338.37 per annum pro rata (based on a 39-hour work week)
Casual Rate: £12 per hour, Sleepover rate (if applicable) £96 per night.

Working Hours: Night shifts from 9:30 PM to 8:30 AM, with full-time, part-time, and casual hours available.

Main Objective:

The primary aim of this role is to deliver a compassionate, efficient, and effective 24/7 support service to individuals utilizing The Action Group's services. This includes aiding individuals in skill development through supervision and participation in various support activities, enriching their opportunities and promoting choice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the TAG Key Worker system, including organizing support plans and case reviews with relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of individuals, ensuring adequate self-care and conducting risk assessments.
  • Build meaningful and trusting relationships with those we support, aiding them in understanding their behaviors and reactions.
  • Encourage independence in daily living activities, providing assistance only when necessary.
  • Support individuals in pursuing their hobbies and interests, facilitating participation in community life.
  • Assist with personal care as required.
  • Enhance communication abilities and promote self-advocacy among individuals.
  • Advocate for individuals when necessary, liaising with external organizations regarding benefits, education, and employment.
  • Engage with relatives and caregivers, ensuring their involvement in the individual's life.
  • Familiarize oneself with local services and amenities available to individuals.
  • Flexibly participate in various shift patterns as required by the needs of those we support.
  • Occasionally cover for short-term absences of other support specialists.

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to TAG's Mission, Aims & Objectives, and current Business Plan.
  • Manage work time effectively and maintain organized filing systems.
  • Communicate promptly and clearly with staff and individuals.
  • Comply with all TAG policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Care Commission Standards.
  • Uphold individual rights and responsibilities at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and contribute to maintaining the Investors In People standard.
  • Manage work-life balance effectively.
