As the foremost producer of low-carbon electricity in the UK, we stand as the largest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain and cater to a vast array of British businesses, employing over 13,000 individuals.

Our operations encompass nuclear, coal, and gas power stations, alongside wind farms and combined heat & power plants. We are committed to safe and reliable energy generation, underpinned by a strong ethos of service excellence.

Position Overview:

The SZC Project, following the successful Hinkley Point C (HPC) initiative, is set in Suffolk and has received planning approval along with government financing support. The project is now in pursuit of private investment to commence construction.

Upon completion, this project will deliver reliable electricity to approximately 6 million homes for a duration of 60 years, contributing to the UK's Net Zero goal by 2050.

Key Responsibilities:
The Environmental and Sustainability Assurance function is pivotal within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) of the SZC project. This role encompasses:

  • Coordinating the phased delivery of information essential for the permitting process.

  • Identifying risks, issues, and opportunities related to environmental permits and consents.
  • Building professional relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the challenges associated with construction environmental permitting in complex engineering projects.
  • Experience in innovative problem-solving and overcoming challenges.
  • Strong project management skills, along with effective leadership and communication abilities.
  • Prior experience in environmental and construction consenting processes on major infrastructure projects.

Work Environment:
EDF is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, ensuring that every employee feels valued and respected. We believe that a diverse team enhances our ability to succeed and innovate.

Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including a market-leading pension scheme, paid holidays, and flexible benefits tailored to support our employees' well-being.
