This position focuses on pinpointing opportunities to mitigate thematic consenting challenges, thereby facilitating proactive measures and risk management approaches.

By establishing a solid framework for strategic environmental compensation and offering specialized knowledge in environmental compliance, this role informs broader regulatory transformations related to the statutory consenting process while overseeing extensive environmental assessments and evaluations. The Lead Environmental Consents Strategist plays a crucial part in enhancing sectoral performance, managing project attrition risks, and promoting sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and leverage opportunities to mitigate thematic consenting challenges across sectors, strategically addressing potential obstacles and enabling proactive actions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive framework for strategic environmental compensation, fostering a systematic approach to environmental considerations and sustainability initiatives.
  • Provide vital support to sector leaders by engaging in consenting activities, identifying essential evidence requirements, and assisting in the delivery of strategic environmental compensation.
  • Collaborate across sectors with sector leaders to ensure compliance with broader environmental regulations and facilitate extensive environmental assessments and evaluations.
  • Enhance stakeholder engagement and manage relationships with external organizations, aligning strategic initiatives and fostering collaborative partnerships.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the marine consenting process and current marine policies, including government initiatives aimed at accelerating offshore wind deployment.
  • Thorough understanding of comprehensive environmental assessments, compliance requirements, and strategic considerations linked to environmental compensation.
  • Proven expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement within the context of environmental and consenting operations.
  • Strong proficiency in sustainability practices, technological insights, and value identification and assessment, supported by a solid understanding of strategy development and execution.
