Job Title: Structural Integrity Engineer

Holtec International is seeking a highly skilled Structural Integrity Engineer to join our team in the UK. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the structural integrity of our SMR-160+ small modular reactor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform static and dynamic finite element modeling and analyses (FEA) using codes such as ANSYS.
  • Conduct drop and impact analyses and target response using codes such as LS-DYNA.
  • Develop and implement beam and plate stress calculations using established principles of strength of materials.
  • Assist with the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop their technical and personal skills.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external organizations, including the nuclear regulators.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science related discipline.
  • Good knowledge and experience in the principles of solid mechanics.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage credibly within and external to the business.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – able to present at multiple organizational levels and to external regulatory stakeholders.
Desired Skills:
  • Academic or industrial experience in the stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, STAAD.Pro and GT STRUDL.
  • Experience of working with ASME code.
