Structural Integrity Engineer

Holtec International is a global leader in the design and development of small modular reactors (SMRs). We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Integrity Engineer to join our team in the UK.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting structural assessments of plant systems, structures, and components. They will also assist in the development of the Structural chapter of the Safety Case for submission to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) for use in the Generic Design Assessment (GDA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct static and dynamic finite element modeling and analyses (FEA) using codes such as ANSYS.
  • Perform drop and impact analyses and target response using codes such as LS-DYNA.
  • Calculate beam and plate stress using established principles of strength of materials.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science-related discipline.
  • Good knowledge and experience in the principles of solid mechanics.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
Desired Skills
  • Academic or industrial experience in stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, STAAD.Pro, and GT STRUDL.
  • Experience of working with ASME code.
