Commercial & Programmes Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial & Programmes Controller to join our team at Smiths Detection. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the sales forecasting and programme accounting processes for the NW Europe region.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the sales forecasting process, including the development of 5-year strategic plans, annual budgets, and monthly rolling forecasts.
- Oversee the maintenance of programme accounting records, including deferred revenue, work-in-progress, and unbilled amounts.
- Collaborate with the UK Financial Controller to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales and operations teams.
- Provide commercial variance explanations and analysis to support internal reporting and external audit purposes.
- Support the preparation of financial models and bids for programmes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Lead the revenue and order intake process for the annual budget and strategic plan.
- Monitor and drive improvements in SAP data accuracy and programme invoicing.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Good knowledge or experience of IFRS standards, especially IFRS15 accounting for programmes.
- Experience of commercial sales forecasting and analysis for decision-making.
- Commercially astute and experienced in working in an international, matrix environment.
- Professional, succinct, and confident communicator to senior leadership.
- Good MS Office/Excel, SAP, and management information systems (Oracle EPBCS) skills.
- Detailed knowledge of SAP programme accounting, including WBS structures, ZPLANS, and reporting.
- Foreign language skills (especially Hebrew) an advantage.
