Electrical Control Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Control Engineer to join our team at A.G. BARR Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the functionality of our PLC/HMI and Process automation technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse line efficiency, wastage, and downtime data to identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Work closely with the Project Engineering Team to deliver key critical elements of our business CAPEX plan, including identifying and managing electrical controls aspects of new installations, upgrades, retrofits, and CI projects.
  • Develop and implement PLC/Network standards to support our IT/OT infrastructure with new projects.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards, providing a deeper understanding of safety systems and automation to the engineering and projects teams.
  • Mentor and train others in PLC, HMI, automated applications, and programming, including developing training materials.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors relating to automation control, software validation, and development, acting as a point of contact/permit holder on site where required.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive library of asset data to guide and define our overarching software architecture.
Requirements:
  • Minimum HNC level or equivalent in an Electrical engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering control and automation.
  • Preferably experienced within a multi-skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Experience of working on Siemens S7 PLC's and TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of Profibus/ASIbus and Ethernet networking systems.
  • Possess programming skills in relation to Fanuc Robot Systems.
  • Ability to programme and 'back up' HMI's using proprietary software.
