Job Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a knowledgeable facilitator to lead training sessions for individuals preparing for the EPA 608 Universal certification assessments. This role involves conducting a comprehensive 42-hour program designed for adult learners, ensuring they are adequately equipped for success. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is essential. The facilitator will also be responsible for overseeing examination proctoring duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical training to prepare participants for the EPA 608 Universal certification exams, emphasizing key exam objectives.
  • Create and evaluate instructional resources, including course outlines, practical exercises, and training materials.
  • Assess student progress and readiness for certification examinations.
  • Assist in class scheduling and program administration.
  • Advise on necessary materials and maintain a secure learning environment.
  • Employ computer applications for effective instructional delivery.

Essential Functions:
Maintain consistency in teaching quality, attendance, and reporting in accordance with institutional policies and professional ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Expertise in HVACR equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to effectively convey HVACR concepts.
  • Design and evaluation of laboratory assignments.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management capabilities.
  • Clear communication of complex subjects.
  • Adaptability to diverse audiences and instructional methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Innovative and proactive approach to teaching.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational background and industry credentials demonstrating expertise.
  • Current EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the HVAC/R industry.
  • At least 1 year of instructional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Prior experience in educational or training roles.
  • Journeyman HVAC license.
  • Experience working with adult learners.
  • Background in curriculum development.
  • Experience in intensive training programs.
  • Prior involvement in higher education teaching.
