Job Title: Senior HVAC Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HVAC Technician to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Senior HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems and other related components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise contracted HVAC work and ensure compliance with applicable codes.
  • Maintain HVAC equipment and systems, correct problems, and perform new HVAC installations.
  • Provide the most economical and safest HVAC service to campus.
  • Complete work orders with priorities approved by immediate supervisor.
  • Independently handle emergency work on weekends and holidays.
  • Lead other HVAC technicians and other trades staff with priorities approved by immediate supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform maintenance work, troubleshoot, and repair systems.
  • Support emergency operations and take lead with campus HVAC contractors.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Commercial HVAC Training.
  • Experience in energy management and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and preventive maintenance operation.
  • Experience in multiple Automatic controls/building management computerized controls or equivalent applicable experience or training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Refrigeration Certificate.
  • Journeymen license/HVAC Trade license.
  • Niagara EMS certification.
  • Encelium lighting certification.
  • Experience working from Mechanical drawings and building blueprints.
  • Experience on operation and maintenance of chillers, heat pumps, air handlers, geothermal systems.
