We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our Community Learning Disability Health Team in a specialist NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities.

Job Summary

  • Under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals, you will provide psychological and physical care to a defined group of people, seeking support as needed to deliver excellent levels of customer service.
  • As part of a healthcare team, you will provide safe and compassionate planned care to people, maximising their recovery and rehabilitation potential.
  • You will develop and maintain meaningful therapeutic relationships with people, adopting a polite, positive, and empathetic approach to communicate effectively and informatively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned programmes of care and treatment to designated service users, under the direction and supervision of the registered nursing team.
  • Support service users to understand their health needs, promote annual health checks, complete hospital passports, and provide health action plans.
  • Work closely with carers and families in a range of different care settings, managing a caseload under the supervision of a named nurse.
  • Participate in a flexible rostering arrangement providing 24-hour/7 day care, as appropriate to the role.

Person Specification

  • Essential:
    • GCSE A-D or grade 3-9 in Maths and English or equivalent
    • Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent in Health & Social Care or equivalent
    • Care Certificate or required to achieve within 12 weeks of commencement
  • Desirable:
    • Level 4 units in Health & Social Care
    • Experience of the speciality area
    • Willingness to undertake further study towards level 4 qualification

Training and Development

  • Must be willing/able to undertake all appropriate Trust mandatory training requirements, and subsequent refresher training relevant to the area.
  • Must be willing/able to undergo job development and training.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of service user safety, eg, Prevention & management of violence & aggression, moving and handling, etc.
